Eric Gwin presents...Songs from the Vault Lyrics |
Lions of God
Words and Music by Paul Evans. Arrangement and Additional Music by Eric Gwin.
The Story Behind the Song
This title song of the first Ariel album is my favorite from the album. It’s also the very first original song that we did. As for the title, “Lions of God” is actually the definition of the word “Ariel”, so this one was kind of our theme song. I believe that’s what Paul was considering when he wrote these lyrics. He wanted to define our ministry in a clear, concise way.
In this cruel world that we live in, it’s not easy to be a “Lion of God”. It’s a good thing we’re covered by the blood of Jesus and have his Spirit dwelling within us. From him, we receive confidence to carry his love to the world.
The Lyrics
Each day as we try to live by God's word
we are put to the test by those around us.
We must carry our cross as we share our faith
for this is what God's word commands us
When it seems like you're alone, ask the Lord for strength
He will carry you through. He will not leave you.
He's our sword and our shield. He's our strength when we yield
so never give up. He'll always be there.
Chorus: Because we're Lions! We're Lions of God
Spreading the Gospel of Jesus through song!
Yes we're Lions! We're Lions of God
putting our trust in whom there is no wrong!
Let's lift up our voice in a world full of sin
and pray that we'll make a difference.
Many are looking for God if we'll just show the way.
We can change the hearts of those around us.
Each have our special way of sharing our faith
if we'll just stand up and use it.
For we must live by his word and we must tell of his word.
It's up to us to make a difference.
Chorus
