The Story Behind the Song

I have always loved this passage of scripture in Luke 1. In verses 46-55, we have what is, technically, the first worship song ever recorded that has Jesus as its focus. When Mary and her sister Elizabeth greeted one another, the babies in their wombs actually leaped for joy! This song is an expression of Mary’s joy over being chosen as the mother of God’s son.
