The Story Behind the Song

I was in the process of studying about the truth that can be found in God's word when the idea for this song came to me. I had everything put together except the lyrics to the bridge section. I was having trouble finding the words to kind-of sum up the message of the song when I shared what I had with the rest of the group. Jon and Jen immediately came up with lyrics and the rest is history.

The Lyrics

Living in this world today,
we can lose our faith.
We lose our confidence in others that we meet.
We find ourselves doubting what others are saying
and we have no idea who we can trust.
But if we take a look at the word,
and let God be the one who's heard,
let him take control and believe what we're told by him...we'll hear the words.

Chorus: The words of truth from the Lord above.
We know the word of God is nothing but the truth.
The words of truth from the God of love.
And we'll be with him if we're walking in the truth.

If we open up the Bible and take a good look
we'll find the answers that we need to make it through life.
What's good? What's bad?
How can I handle my problems?
The plan to our lives can be found there.
When I think about everyday life
with the causes of problems and strife,
it's easy to see the word's there for me to trust... we'll hear the words.
